Our Story

Cobb Island is a quaint and quiet community located in Charles County, Maryland. Nestled on a 290-acre triangle surrounded by the Wicomico River, the Potomac, and Neale Sound. Cobb Island has a rich history dating back to the early 1600s. Originally owned by James Neale, a ship captain who specialized in capturing Spanish treasure ships, the island was named after the "cobbs" coins used by the colonists.

In 1889, George Vickers built the island's first permanent home and started farming, and by 1922, roads were built and a development was underway. Today, Cobb Island is a popular destination for boaters who work in the metropolitan area, drawn to the island by its 90-minute drive from Washington, D.C. and its peaceful, tranquil setting.

Our family has been a part of the Cobb Island / Cobb Neck community for over two years. When we moved here we immediately fell in love with the area and its tight-knit community and saw the potential for a grocery store market that would serve the needs of our community. When we saw the Cobb Island market building for sale, we knew we could make our vision a reality. We closed on the purchase of the building in December 2020 and have been working tirelessly to renovate and modernize the building. We officially opened the market on December 16, 2022.

Inspired by Nick’s of Clinton grocery store, we plan to stock our market with all the staple items you would normally see in a traditional grocery store, at a fair price. In addition to fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood, our future plans will offer fresh prepared foods and great sandwiches and subs. We are committed to sourcing a variety of products including organic, non-GMO, and highlighting local products.

We want to stock our market with the items our community wants to purchase, so please give us feedback and suggestions on the items and specific brands that you would like us to carry. We are excited to be on this journey with you and hope to bring a community market that the we can all be proud of and that will benefit Cobb Island and the Cobb Neck region for years to come.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you at our market.
